I think that animals definately have souls, but machines don't. We don't really know everything about animals, from the list we don't really know if they have goals and some of the things that are listed, but in my opinion I believe that animals control themselves and thats why machines don't have souls. They are being controlled by someone and they don't really have morals. They won't do something that they weren't built to do. Some people could argue that maybe some humans are being controlled by someone, but they still have choice in what they should do.
As for zombies, it depends on how you view death I think.
