What is the meaning of our existance?

Sort of going with this is why are we here?  Is there a purpose for us in the universe?  Are we all just pawns in a god's plan?  To make life better for future generations?

New Question:

Is perfection achievable?

ok, so to answer that question, i think it might be easier to answer this question: What isn't the meaning of our existence? Werid I know, but think of it this way, what were humans not existed to do? Are there things that humans did which we should not have, or do we do things which alter the meaning of our existence? And what exactly is "existence"?

i think that the meaning of existance is not the same for everyone. I am not sure if i am answering your queation the way you intended it to be asked but i think that the reason we are all so different is so we can bring something new to the world. Everyone has a different purpose in life.

the meaning of your existence is whatever you want it to be

i am looking at this question as a generalization of humanity and our meaning of existance and i was wonder, do we have a meaning at all? or our we quite possibly another piece of the cycle that just keeps repeating itself in the universe. I would relate it to the ice age, it is shown that we have had many before and that they will happen again, its just part of the cycle.

The meaning of our existence is what we plan to fufill in our lifetime. I believe that we have goals that we set out for ourselves, and we strive to achieve them. We all have these goals to live a decent life, and we will live our lives trying to achieve them, some successful, some just a distant dream that will never be achieved. The meaning of our existence is what we want it to be, and we are responsible for our own meaning of existence because we all have our own desires.

Perfection... I think that it is attainable.
...but for the sake of your question I will argue no. God is the only thing that IS truly perfect. Anything that we view as 'perfect' is just a poor imitation.

I think that perfection is different for everyone. I think that it cannot be attainable because the state of perfection would not actually be a positive thing. Therefore, if it was reached, I don't think it would have the same meaning anymore..if that makes any sense.

I think we can reach a series of perfections through our knowledge and reasoning, if I fairly got perfect on a test for example, I would have perfected knowing that knowledge, the test would have to be flawless though that I were not to just guess something I don't know. Perfection as a whole though, I believe it can't be reached, only God can be perfect. It goes together with the truth debate, we can know a series of truths, but we will never know or reach the Truth, only god knows that. Maybe perfection is knowing the Truth, but that we will never know, therefore making total perfection, impossible to anyone but God.

I think that perfection is a conception in our mind that is not achievable, but there is an idea of what perfection is.

yes it is achievable, look at me as an example =P (no mean comments!)

wow sara, we knew someone was going to come out and say it... but you?.. come on now

ouch....that hurts..... anyways, if perfection is achievable, how will we know that its (whatever we do or make) "perfect"? Since we have never achieved this level of perfection, will we even know if it is perfect? and if we cannot then maybe someone has already achieved perfection but we did not know it just because we don't know what it is
