1. The Baroque period is generally referred to as the age of irregularity where art, and theatre, bloomed and dominated the era. It was considered an age of contrast characterized between inreconcilable contrasts, which were very much different and more original than the Renaissance art, and time period.

2. The two Latin expressions that were favourites of the Baroque Period were 'carpe diem' which means 'seize the day', and 'momento mori' which means 'Remember that you must die.'

3. The position that what exists is at bottom spiritual is called idealism.

4. The position that all real things derive from concrete material substances is called materialism.

5. The mechanistic world view is described "as the world is one big machine", and everything that occurs in the Universe was a product of mechanical processes, and Man was considered "the machine", made up of mechanical processes that allowed him to function properly.

6. The position that everything that happens is predetermined is called determinism.

7. The precise difference between the material and spiritual according to Leibniz is that material can be broken up into smaller and smaller bits, but the soul cannot be divided into two.
