What is Good and Evil?
Who decides?
Where do we get our moral beliefs (what we believe is right/wrong) from?
  • Self – (emotions, mind, instincts – tell us what is good and bad)
  • Family (honesty/respect = good)
  • Peers/relationships (trust/loyalty/selflessness/)
  • Society (murder and kidnapping is bad)
  • Government (following the law is good)
  • Religion (follow the beliefs of the religion)
  • Media (“beauty” is good, buying is good)

Is there such thing as natural law? – Or is there some things that are naturally good and bad?

I don't think there is such a thing as naturally good and naturally bad. I mean, we base our morals from our surroundings- our society, the media, family, what the government enforces on us (laws), etc.
One may argue is that these naturally good/bad things in society had to have came form somewhere. Personally, I think that a lot of it comes from religion; a lot of religious morals are the bases of these “good and bad” things. For example, polygamy is illegally in Canada and the United Status, as it is also seen as a “sin” in the dominant religions. Whereas in other countries, polygamy is not illegal or religiously rejected.
Also, natural law could come from the bases of knowledge/experience. In some African countries, people remove the poisonous venom and flanges of snakes and let babies play with them. Without the snake having any defense, the baby freely plays with it, punch it, etc. Once the baby grows up, it is not afraid of snakes. This proves that we base our fears on knowledge/experience and so I think that some of the things that we, as individuals, see as “naturally good/bad” are on the bases of pure nurture factors, which sort of contradicts the “natural” part.
